Our mission:
We are a global community of Christians committed to serving others as well as possible, using evidence and reason. We inspire and equip others to do likewise.
Our focus:
We aim to better steward our key resources of money, time, and influence. We encourage Christians to, one; donate to highly effective charities, two; dedicate their time to the most important causes, especially via their careers, and three; share and promote principles of effective altruism.
Our activities:
We host events discussing effective charity and career choices, including weekly discussion calls online, talks, retreats and conferences. We publish articles and podcasts. We offer giving and career advice on our career advisory site.
Our funding:
The Effective Altruism for Christians project relies primarily on funding by private Christian donors from within the community, and has also received grants from secular organisations supporting the effective altruism community building. We do not receive any funding from the organisations we recommend in our Giving Campaign.
Our organisation:
To support the growth of this project, in August 2021, a registered charity in England and Wales was formed, named Christians for Impact (charity #1195605). In October 2021, another public charity, Christians for Impact USA Inc, was formed in the U.S. state of Delaware (see file #6338774 here), and it received 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS in July 2022. Our IRS Form 990 for 2022 is here. The two entities cooperate closely on common goals and share staff.
Our team comes from a wide variety of different church backgrounds and engages with the Centre for Effective Altruism and the wider effective altruism movement.
If you would like to join our team or support our efforts, then please do get in contact, we’d love to hear from you.
