What it is: An excellent 4-week long introductory fellowship. This course starts with biblical moral foundations and wrestles with key questions and ideas from Effective Altruism.

Why: It’s a great way to learn more and to meet others who are asking similar questions, considering effective giving and high-impact careers. It’s also free! Directed by Asia Wiaterek.

When it is: The next cohort begins in October and meets 1x weekly.

Next Steps Groups

What it is: These groups are small groups of Christians in EA who meet about once a month to discuss goals and give accountability/peer support. In the past, groups have discussed giving, tithing, career goals, and other lifestyle goals.

Sign up here for general interest or here (for our nect cohort) for our 8-week impact bible study exploring key EA themes (e.g. impartiality, radical altruism) from a biblical perspective.

When it is: Varies; cohorts meet approximately monthly.

2019 Annual Conference

6 April 2019

Our first annual conference was a great success, with attendees from around the world gathering for three days of discussion and fellowship.

Topics on the agenda included:

  • Is Christianity compatible with an emphasis on the distant future?

  • Is effective altruism reflected in the life of Jesus?

  • What role should prayer, calling, and discernment play in decision making?

  • Ought we apply the principles of effectiveness to evangelism?

  • How should Christians engage in cause prioritisation, and where does the local church fit?

Some of the results of these discussions have been shared in recent blog posts on eachdiscussion.wordpress.com.
